Russia & The Romanovs

Russia and her rulers have been a passion since I was 13 years old!  It was then that I discovered  “Nicholas and Alexandra” in the school library — a book that set the course of my life.  I lived for 20 years in Moscow, fed my passion for history and culture, and developed a new interest in Russian cuisine and culinary history.

I’ve written two books about Russia, one a humorous memoir of living in Moscow with my cross-cultural family, called Lenin Lives Next Door: Marriage, Martinis, and Mayhem in Moscow.  The other, Have Personality Disorder, Will Rule Russia, a Pocket Guide to Russian History is a short, pithy, and hopefully humorous account of Russian history designed for tourists and armchair travelers alike.  I created a lengthy reading list for this book, which I update frequently.

At the request of many of my readers, I also developed a more detailed list of Romanov-related reading, including biographies, memoirs, and novels relating to the dynasty.  This is also updated frequently.
